Welcome BackTeacher with student

We trust you have had a relaxing summer break and are ready to re-engage in the work of supporting all students in achieving their maximum potential through continuous improvement.

For those who are continuing this journey, welcome back. For those who are new to the journey, welcome to the work.

MICIP Continuous Communication comes out on the first Thursday of each month and is the primary communication tool around continuous improvement in Michigan and around the Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP).

If you are not on the mailing list, you can register for the list at this link.

If you have questions regarding continuous improvement or MICIP, you can contact us through MICIP Support. We look forward to partnering with you in this important work.

MiStrategy Bank (MSB)Strategy Bank logo

Greetings from the MiStrategy Bank (MSB)!

My name is Dave Carlson, and I am the new Education Consultant in the Office of Strategic Planning and Implementation tasked with managing MDE portions of the MSB.

I am specifically responsible for developing, editing and curating new strategies for the Department. I am also available to assist ISDs and LEAs with those processes in the event you need help.

If you have questions about items in the MSB or need a hand to create your own, please do not hesitate to contact me at carlsond12@michigan.gov. I would be happy to assist you and I am looking forward to working with you.

What’s new in the MSB?

Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) is now a global strategy in the MSB! If you are implementing this literacy strategy in your district and want to include it in your MICIP Plan, just search “LETRS” in the Title Prompt, apply the filter and you will find it.

Integration with MiPHY Data MICIP Platform

MICIP and the Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI), MICIP is pleased to announce that MiPHY reporting will be integrated with MICIP.

This integration will be more dynamic and customizable when generating MiPHY reports to those districts who participate in the MiPHY survey. It is exciting to see the change to MiPHY reporting. The MiPHY data integration is now live for Districts that have given the survey to students.

The reports can be used to create data stories, add as evidence to support goals and strategies, as well as be used for supporting monitoring and end targets. Districts that participate may access data now.

MICIP ResourcesMICIP Website Update

We continue to update the MICIP website. Updates include:

  • A number of outdated resources have been removed while other resources have been added.
  • We have also done a bit of reorganization, specifically on the Resources page:
  • To help reduce the space on the page, MTSS, Guides, Presentations, and Tools have been made into accordion files where the user clicks on the header to reveal the specific resources.
  • The 2023 and 2024 Collaboration Series resources are now under MDE Resources/Presentations
  • The Continuous Improvement Monthly Checklist from Starfish is now under Resources from the Field/Overview and Setting the Stage.
  • Since accessing the Guides will now take an additional step, MICIP Process Guide, MICIP Platform Guide, and MICIP Platform Training Manual have also been placed under Current Topics on the first page of the website.

We will highlight several new resources in the September issue of MICIP Continuous Communication.
