Arab American National Museum
The Arab American National Museum (AANM), located in Dearborn, MI, is the only institution in the United States dedicated to sharing the history, culture, and contributions of the Arab American community with the world. Over the past 15 years, the AANM has offered high-quality educational programming to educate the general public about the Arab American community and also inspire and encourage Arab Americans of every age to be proud of their heritage and culture. The AANM offers a wealth of educational and cultural opportunities for educators, including virtual tours, cultural competency workshops, film screenings, virtual crafts, and the SURA Arts Academy.

The 2021 statewide Education Workforce Job Fairs have been scheduled for March 3, June 16, and August 4. These virtual fairs are hosted by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE), in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Opportunity (LEO). Each fair is open to individuals seeking to work in the education field as well as to employers of educators and educational support staff. Building Mirrors and Windows Virtual Conference
February 25, 2021 9 a.m. - noon
MDE is excited to announce and host a free virtual conference for educators and administrators, Building Mirrors and Windows: Children Seeing Themselves and Others in the Literature that We Teach, on February 25, 2021. The conference will focus on how to increase the amount of diverse literature available to students and how to use the materials for instruction and student engagement. The conference will run from 9:00 a.m.—noon. Participants can view the conference flyer, register for the conference, and sign up for updates by visiting the MDE Literacy website.
School Counselors are Key Allies for Equity and Access to Broaden Participation in Computing

The Michigan School Counselor Association and MDE are inviting school counselors to a Counselors for Computing Webinar entitled “School Counselors are Key Allies for Equity and Access to Broaden Participation in Computing” on Thursday, February 25 from 3:30-4:30 pm. This free webinar will share information and resources which support students on paths to successful, flexible, and rewarding computing careers. Beyond Envisioning Equity: Situating Teacher of Color Voices
March 5-6, 2021
The Center of Intercultural and Multilingual Advocacy (CIMA) at Kansas Sate University invites all to the virtual conference “Beyond Envisioning Equity: Situating Teacher of Color Voices” on March 5-6, 2021. This conference will allow participants to enter into exciting conversations about how educational spaces address the recruitment, induction, mentoring, and retention of teachers of color (TOCs). Attendees will also explore how to prepare White educators for the complexities of culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms. This event will highlight leading voices in the field whose experiences, research, and professional insights shed light on policies and practices that can inform our next steps toward educational equity.
