Good Morning,

The MI Mathematics and Science Centers Network is excited to announce that applications for Code.org’s Professional Learning Program for CS Principles is now open. If your school plans to offer AP CSP in 2017-18, please fill out the application form found below.

Code.org’s Professional Learning Program is an an intensive, year-long professional learning program for high school educators who are interested in teaching Code.org’s AP CS Principles Course. This program is designed to prepare educators to provide high quality instruction based on the curriculum, tools and approach to students in their classrooms.

Teachers who apply and are accepted to the program commit to:

  • Attending the five-day, in-person, out-of-state summer workshop (July 31 - August 4 in Philadelphia, PA)
  • Attending four local one-day, in-person workshops (normally on Saturdays)
  • Engaging in 20 hours of on-line PD
  • Teaching the course during the 2017-18 school year
  • Supporting the recruitment and enrollment of a diverse group of students in the course, representative of the school’s overall student population

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. To apply, visit the CS Principles pages. (https://code.org/educate/professional-learning/cs-principles-apply.)

(Please note that the application process requires two parts. There is a teacher application and then there is a quick form for administrators to complete indicating that the school is planning to offer AP CSP in the fall of 2017. Applications are not considered complete until both parts are done.)

Sincerely,
