Football season approaches, but also in the not-too-distant future will be the November Election.
When I took office, I set out to restore faith in elections by protecting its integrity with enhanced security measures.
Please see the article below that highlights many of the security protocols that have been put in place. I hope you agree that we have made some very good progress!

 Helping Restore Faith in Elections With Innovative Security Measures
Upon taking office in 2021, Clerk Forlini set out to restore faith in elections by protecting its integrity with security measures.
Among the first things that Clerk Forlini implemented in 2021 was the mandatory collection of USB sticks and the removal of tabulator modems.
Under Clerk Forlini's direction, Macomb County then became the only county to perform a Forensic Audit of its election server for the 2020 elections. This allowed the Clerk's Office to set up new enhanced protocols for future elections.
Enhancements continued by starting to save ballot images and conducting HASH validation training for local Clerks.
He then rolled out the first ever County-wide election worker recruitment and training to assist local clerks and standardize election day workers competency. Competent workers are the backbone to protect our election process!
Clerk Forlini then introduced the first ever Campaign Finance Electronic Filing System, which reduced unneeded bureaucracy, saving the county money and helping make campaign finance reports more accurate and easier to be compliant.
Also to follow were workshops for local policing agencies and the prosecutor in 2024.

Further security enhancements were dual-entry for server room access and the use of watermarked paper ballots in the 2024 November Election, another first.
In 2025, Clerk Forlini continued enhancements with backup tabulator sticks and a review of QVF for voters over 100 years of age.
Clerk Forlini introduced a ground-breaking Historical Election Results website to search Macomb County Elections dating back to 1838.

The best achievement we had last year was our introduction of "Ballot Verifier," a software that was added to the County’s Election Department website. This allows the average citizen to see ballot images and compare the image to how the tabulator recorded the results. We have posted the images from the November 4, 2025, through the present.
In the last year, Clerk Forlini initiated a review of non-citizens appearing in the Jury Service Pool and compared the results to the State's "Qualified Voter File" database, identifying some further disturbing results.

November 3rd Election Information
The 2026 General Election is quickly approaching. This election will have state, county, and local races, including several proposals at the state, county, and local levels.
Information about Early Voting will be available on our website soon and be featured in next month's newsletter.
There is also a list of candidates and proposals appearing on the ballot. Voters can also check their voter registration status, register to vote, request an absentee ballot, find their polling location, see their local clerk's office hours, or even view a sample ballot.
If you are not registered to vote, there is information about how to become eligible to vote for the November Election!

Clerk's Office Visits New Baltimore Parks & Rec Senior Open House
The Clerk's Office visited the annual New Baltimore Parks & Recreation Senior Open House on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at the Lempke-Blackwell VFW Post 7573.
The Clerk's Office promoted the free "Fraud Notify" alerts system and even signed up visitors right on the spot!
With just a quick registration, Fraud Notify participants are notified via email anytime a document is recorded or changed under their name. That way, the residents and local businesses can determine if the recording is legitimate, giving them an early warning against potential property fraud.
The event also featured health and wellness visits, including fall prevention and balance consultations with local health teams.

'Fraud Notify Alerts' System Reaches
27,000 Macomb County Participants
The Clerk's Office free "Fraud Notify" alert service, a simple way to be notified of possible fraud, has reached 27,000 Macomb County sign-ups.
Participants are notified via email when a Macomb County real estate document is recorded in their name.
