Your local clerk has a special voting location that allows you to vote in-person at a tabulator, just like on election day.

In-person voting will again resume at your regular voting location on Tuesday, August 4th at 7 a.m. and end at 8 p.m. For more information go to our website: macombgov.org/election-dates

The Tuesday August 4 Primary Election is right around the corner.

Before that, you have the option to participate in "In-Person Early Voting," which ends Sunday, Aug. 2 at specific local clerk locations.

You can also take your absentee ballot -- if you haven't already mailed it or dropped it off at your local clerk's office -- and bring it to where they have early voting and tabulate your ballot right on the spot.

Everyone needs to get out and vote. This is an important election for many, many people. Make it important for yourself, too.

"Eliminating daytime voice mail and having a live person answer the phone was our first priority years ago," said Macomb County Clerk Anthony G. Forlini.

"In fact, a whopping 98 percent of our calls are now handled by a knowledgeable live person. And we've simplified our website so it is easier to navigate and find our services more quickly."

The next phase was to improve services when Macomb County residents visit the Clerk's office buildings.

"We reduced wait times in any of our offices to under five minutes," said Clerk Forlini. "We also installed a streamlined customer queueing system in both the 120 N Main Building that houses our Vital Records and Register of Deeds departments and the 40 N Main Circuit Court Building where our Court Department handles court filings and court records."

"Another priority was establishing an efficient and effective Concealed Weapons Permit (CPL) Department that combines application and fingerprinting, eliminating a trip to the Sheriff's Office."

The most recent project was constructing a long overdue state-of-the-art records storages system that is now keeping Macomb County residents' records safe and accessible.

"We've been able to enhance the property "Fraud Notify" alert system, a free service that was mostly unknown to our residents and now boasts over 26,000 signups," said Clerk Forlini.

In the near future, the Clerk's Office will be unveiling a "Tract Index Project" program where land records will be eventually searched by property address, and/or legal description instead of just by name in the Register of Deeds Office.

John Johnson, CEO and Chairman of the SE Michigan Chamber of Commerce and President of the Board of Directors for MCREST, at the recent opening of the men's wing of the homeless shelter in Mount Clemens.

“We have been evolving over the last 35 years of rotational shelters to a permanent shelter for those who have fallen on bad luck in their life,” said John.

The average stay at the shelter is 60 days with a recidivism rate of under 10 percent, which means the system they developed works!

The Clerk's Office free "Fraud Notify" alert service, a simple way to be notified of possible fraud, has reached 26,000 Macomb County sign-ups.

Participants are notified via email when a Macomb County real estate document is recorded in their name.
