ON THE ROAD
WITH TONY...

Welcome to our April newsletter!

Earth Day is a very special celebration each April, and this year the holiday fell on Wednesday, April 22. Please see the video below about how you can be proud 20 years from now... just by planting a tree on Earth Day!

I had the honor this month of being a guest instructor for the "Preventing Voter and Property Fraud in Macomb County" class at Macomb Community College's "MORE" (Macomb Organization for Retiree Enrichment) program. Please see the feature below!

Also in April, the Clerk's Office participated in the "Bring Your Child to Work Day." Participating sixth to 12th grade students (and their parents) also had the opportunity to take part in a mock election including an actual tabulator machine, hosted by Monika Rittner, Election Supervisor.

Just a reminder, the next election in Macomb County is Tuesday, May 5, 2026, where Eastpointe Schools will have a Millage Replacement Proposal, and Richmond Schools and Roseville Schools will both have Bond Proposals.

Clerk Forlini had the honor of being guest instructor for the "Preventing Voter and Property Fraud in Macomb County" class at Macomb Community College's "MORE" program.

MORE (Macomb Organization for Retiree Enrichment) offers a wide variety of special classes for senior citizens.

Before a full class, Clerk Forlini covered election security issues, including modems, forensic audits of servers, watermarked ballots, election worker training, and "Ballot Verifier" software. He also addressed concerns about "double voting," absentee ballots, and the State's QVF (Qualified Voter File).

The students also participated in a mock election with an actual tabulator.

Clerk Forlini also discussed notarizations of forged signatures on property deeds, where fraudsters transfer the property to themselves and sell it to an unsuspecting third party.  He then gave a presentation of the Clerk's Office's "Fraud Notify Alerts" program, where participants are notified via email anytime a document is recorded or changed under their name.

Clerk's Fraud Notify Presentation to PFLAG-CT

That same evening, Clerk Forlini met with PFLAG-CT at Hope United Church of Christ and presented the Fraud Notify Alerts program. It was a small group of six and all six signed up!

Clerk's Office Visits the East Detroit Federation of Teachers-Retired

Fraud Notify Presentation at the East Detroit Federation of Teachers-Retired

Members of the Clerk's Office visited the East Detroit Federation of Teachers-Retired to talk about the free "Fraud Notify" alerts system.

Clerk Forlini has watched the modest 1,300 sign-ups in 2021 balloon to the 24,000 mark during his five years in office.

With just a quick registration, Fraud Notify participants are notified via email anytime a document is recorded or changed under their name. That way, the residents and local businesses can determine if the recording is legitimate, giving them an early warning against potential property fraud.

Participating sixth to 12th grade students (and their parents) also had the opportunity to take part in a mock election including an actual tabulator machine, hosted by Monika Rittner, Election Supervisor (photo at right).
