Library of Michigan Veterans Day and Thanksgiving Holiday Closings
The Library of Michigan will be closed from Tuesday, November 11, 2025, for Veterans Day. The Library of Michigan will reopen on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
The Library of Michigan will also be closed Thursday, November 27, 2025, through Saturday, November 29, 2025, for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Library of Michigan will reopen on Monday, December 1, 2025.

"Devouring Time: Jim Harrison, a Writer's Life" Author Event
Meet author Todd Goddard as he discusses his recent biography of Michigan author Jim Harrison "Devouring Time: Jim Harrison, a Writer's Life." Mr. Goddard will be interviewed by Leslie McRoberts, Director of the Michigan State University Special Collections. Event takes place at the Library of Michigan on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 7PM in the 1st floor Forum Auditorium.

Save The Date: 2026 Night for Notables with Keynote Speaker Angeline Boulley
The Library of Michigan and Library of Michigan Foundation are pleased to announce 2-time Michigan Notable Books honoree Angeline Boulley as the keynote speaker for the 2026 Night for Notables Celebration on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Angeline Boulley, an enrolled member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, is a storyteller who writes about her Ojibwe community in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. She is a former Director of the Office of Indian Education at the U.S. Department of Education.
Angeline lives in southwest Michigan, but her home will always be on Sugar Island. Her first two novels "Firekeeper’s Daughter" and "Warrior Girl Unearthed" have both been honored as Michigan Notable Book titles in 2022 and 2024 respectively. Angeline's most recent work "Sister’s in the Wind" was released in September.

2025 MGC Fall Family History Event
The Library of Michigan is proud to be a co-sponsor of the 2025 Michigan Genealogical Council Fall Family History Event. Taking place at the Michigan Library and Historical Center on Saturday, November 15 from 9:00AM - 4:00PM, the event will feature the following topics:

Keynote speaker Curt Witcher is the Director of Special Collections at the Allen County Public Library, managing the widely acclaimed Genealogy Center as well as the Rolland Center for Lincoln Research. He is a former president of both the Federation of Genealogical Societies and the National Genealogical Society, and the founding president of the Indiana Genealogical Society.
