Holiday Hours
The Library of Michigan will be closed for the holidays from Friday, December 22 - Monday, December 25. It will reopen on Tuesday, December 26. The State Law Library will also be closed for in-person use on Tuesday, December 26, but will answer email inquiries. Reference emails submitted to Librarian@Michigan.gov during the holiday closure will be answered in the days when the Library of Michigan reopens.
Coming Soon: 2024 Michigan Notable Books List and Tour Application
The Michigan Notable Books selection committee has finalized the 20 titles that will soon be announced as the 2024 Michigan Notable Books selections. The official announcement will take place in mid-January.
At the same time the 2024 MNB list is announced, the online application for Michigan libraries to host authors as part of the Michigan Notable Books Author Tour will go live on the Library of Michigan's website. Select authors from the 2024 MNB list will be available to visit libraries chosen from applying locations. The annual MNB author tour will take place between April - June 2024.

2024 History Detectives Grand Rapids - January 20, 2024
The Library of Michigan is proud to partner with History Detectives Grand Rapids. This popular day-long local history programming event aims to bring together those interested in the evolution and history of local topics and persons. All presentations are held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 in the Ryerson Auditorium of the Main Branch of the Grand Rapids Public Library, 111 Library Street, NE, in downtown Grand Rapids. Each presentation runs approximately 45 minutes with the first presentation beginning at 9:30AM. A lunch break will begin at 12:15PM, and those wishing to reserve a boxed lunch from Schnitz Deli can make a selection and payment at the History Detectives Grand Rapids website. The programming day will conclude at 4:00PM and attendees can enjoy free parking for any or all of the programs they wish to attend.
