Library of Michigan at the 2023 National Book Festival
Michigan Collection Librarian Mindy Babarskis and Digitization Librarian Jennifer Sasota recently represented both the Library of Michigan and Michigan Center for the Book at the 2023 National Book Festival on August 12. Founded in 2001, the National Book Festival an annual literary festival held in Washington D.C. that brings together award-winning authors, novelists, historians, poets and children's writers from across the country. It is organized and sponsored by the Library of Congress.
Michigan Notable Book authors Angeline Boulley and Chasten Buttigieg were both at the festival and stopped by the Michigan table. Michigan titles Tin Camp Road by Ellen Airgood and Ancestor Approved: Intertribal Stories for Kids edited by Cynthia Leitich Smith were also both featured as the Adult and Youth selections from Michigan for the 2023 Great Reads from Great Places list announced during the festival.

Barbenheimer Resources at the Library of Michigan
The recent Barbenheimer Internet phenomenon has inspired the Library of Michigan to showcase content from our collections that connect to both the Barbie and Oppenheimer films. See first-run documents, transcripts and articles about Robert Oppenheimer and the hearings. Read about his work in nuclear physics as well as his concern about the dangers his work posed. See early publications featuring Barbie and follow her transition to becoming an international icon.
