The MI Auto Workforce Hub is excited to share that LEO awarded Marshall Public Schools a Skills in Sync Regional Partnership Pilot Grant, supporting their efforts to connect students with real-world manufacturing and electric vehicle career opportunities.
With strong momentum already underway — including new STEM labs and growing collaboration with employers like Ford — this grant will help MPS bring local schools, supply chain manufacturers and community partners together in a more coordinated, consistent way that benefits both students and the region’s workforce future.
Over the summer, the MI Auto Workforce Hub has reached several major milestones that reflect the dedication and collaboration of partners across the state. Together, we have:

Hosted Skills in Sync roundtables and are piloting K-12 and manufacturing partnership models that align training, curricula and employer needs.
With these foundational efforts now underway, the Hub is entering its next phase. As part of a broader initiative to consolidate standing meetings and focus on implementation, we will pause all recurring MI Auto Workforce Hub meetings moving forward.
Our team will continue advancing pilot projects and engaging Hub partners through targeted one‑on‑one conversations and existing collaboration channels. The MI Auto Workforce Hub Newsletter will remain your primary source for updates, progress reports, resources and opportunities to stay connected.

The Community & Worker Economic Transition Office awarded 11 small- and medium-sized auto employers a share of the $21 million in Michigan Supplier Conversion Grant program. Funding will help firms shift from producing parts, components or materials for internal combustion engine vehicles to materials needed in qualified vehicle supply chains (like hybrids) – ensuring Michigan’s auto and manufacturing industry remains a national leader.
The grant program is designed to provide Michigan manufacturers with critical capital to modernize operations, expand and upgrade auto supply production and adapt their machinery to meet demand in emerging, competitive global markets — with the ultimate goal of strengthening their competitiveness and supporting long‑term job retainment and growth.

LEO’s Sector Strategies team is excited to announce the statewide launch of the Michigan Industry & Talent Network (MITN). Following a successful kickoff, MITN is growing as a hub connecting Employer-Led Collaboratives, employers, workforce partners and education organizations dedicated to strengthening Michigan’s talent pipeline.
MITN offers space for partners to connect, learn, and collaborate around employer-led, industry-focused workforce strategies. The network will share best practices, highlight innovative work and deepen connections across sectors.
In the months ahead, MITN will host virtual learning sessions featuring successful models and emerging practices and will be sharing quarterly newsletters to keep partners informed with updates, resources and collaboration opportunities.
