The Michigan High Speed Internet Office (MIHI) is leading efforts in one of Michigan’s many led collaboratives. The Broadband Workforce Consortium collaborative is comprised of businesses within the broadband industry who share the goal of tackling workforce challenges collectively. Through shared strategies, they identify critical occupations, forecast hiring needs and redesign training programs to align with industry demand. This collaborative approach strengthens talent pipelines, reduces training costs and builds career pathways for Michigan workers.
Affordable internet access is important for people and families with limited incomes. To help close the gap, many internet companies now offer low‑cost plans. The National Digital Inclusion Alliance provides a useful list called the Honor Roll of Low‑Cost Internet Plans. It includes internet options that meet their standards for price, speed and reliability. All plans on the list cost $30 or less per month, have no data caps or speed limits and are available to households that qualify.

Caller ID spoofing happens when someone changes the name or phone number that appears on your caller ID to hide who they really are. Scammers often use spoofing to make it look like they are calling from a local number or a trusted business or government agency. Their goal is to trick you into sharing personal information or sending money.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recommends these steps to help protect yourself:
-
Do not answer calls from unknown numbers.
-
Hang up if a caller or recording asks you to press a button to stop receiving calls.
-
Do not answer questions that can be answered with "yes" or "no."
-
Never share personal information, including account numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords or other sensitive information during an unexpected call.
-
If someone claims to represent a business or government agency, hang up and call the official phone number from their website to verify the request.
-
Be cautious if a caller pressures you to act immediately.
-
Ask your phone service provider about call blocking tools and available mobile apps.
