The Michigan Broadband Map has been updated to show the most up to date information about broadband serviceable locations across the state. If you have been asking the question, “Where’s my internet?” then this is the tool for you!
In addition, you can also use the map to view information by county, census block, school districts and even political districts. There is also a progress dashboard that will allow users to view, sort and download data in a variety of ways that may be useful to their specific needs.
This month we are highlighting programs that help connect Michigan communities to affordable internet. Our first highlight is a resource for Community Anchor Institutions.
Mobile Beacon provides affordable, high speed internet service to eligible Community Anchor Institutions, including schools, libraries, nonprofit organizations and other organizations that serve the public. Through the T-Mobile network, Mobile Beacon offers unlimited 4G and 5G internet plans along with mobile hotspots, routers and tablets to help organizations stay connected wherever internet access is needed.
Eligible organizations can get unlimited internet for as little as $10 per month for each device, making it easier to expand access without straining tight budgets. Mobile Beacon helps Community Anchor Institutions stay connected and continue serving students, staff, clients and community members.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) recommend the following steps to help protect your business online:

Train employees how to spot fake emails and suspicious messages so they don’t click links or open attachments by mistake.

Turn on multi factor authentication whenever it is available to add an extra layer of security.

Keep your business software and devices up to date by installing the newest security updates.

Turn on system logs so you can keep an eye on unusual activity and spot possible threats early.

Regularly save copies of your important business data and check those backups to make sure they can be restored when needed.

Encrypt sensitive business data so it remains protected even if a device or account is compromised.
