Successful Race to Talent™ events bring together business, labor, education, community and workforce development leaders who contribute to an in-depth discussion around stakeholder benefits from using the Registered Apprenticeship training model to grow needed talent for business success. Event participants contribute by following a structured outline proven to:
- Raise Awareness of the numerous stakeholders benefits the training model provides
- Recognize Partners by introducing those in the region and/or sectors already using the model to accelerate skill development and business success
- Recruit New Partners whose organizations can benefit from using the training model

August 27, 2025: Employers and apprentices gathered at the Northwest Michigan Works! Race to Talent™ event. Discussions highlighted the impact of Registered Apprenticeships, with a hands-on activity guiding attendees through key paperwork. The Great Lakes Children’s Museum was awarded the Race to Talent Champion.
August 26, 2025: GST Michigan Works! highlighted Aspire Rural Health Care's successful Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs) for CNAs and Surgical Technicians at a Race to Talent™ event. Panelists from Aspire explained their investment in RAPs and their plans to expand new apprenticeships occupations.
August 25, 2025: SAE celebrated a Registered Apprenticeship partnership between MacAllister Machinery and Operating Engineers 324. At the launch event, the first graduating students were awarded the Michigan Apprentice Readiness Certificates (MARC), a significant step in their skilled trades career.
August 14, 2025: The Upper Peninsula Construction Council celebrated its fourth Building Trades Summer Camp graduating class. Students gained hands-on experience, skills, and career clarity, earning an hourly wage and completing community projects while exploring high-demand skilled trades jobs in the U.P.
August 12, 2025: Oakland County’s Race to Talent™ event in Southfield featured a Registered Apprenticeship 101 presentation and roundtable discussions. MiSTAIRS employer partners, including CSM Mechanical and FANUC America, were recognized for their commitment to the Registered Apprenticeship training model.
August 12, 2025: Fourteen registered apprentices graduated from the MAT² Mechatronics program, earning an industry-recognized credential. SEMCA provided continued support resources. Scott Jedele, Administrative Manager for Apprenticeship Expansion at Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, spoke at the graduation, congratulating the graduates and Henry Ford for their successful program.
August 10, 2025: At the new Ironworkers Local 8 Training Facility, the MASCI/UPCC Industry Night featured a hands-on skilled trades challenge. Attendees experienced a live competition, highlighting the hands-on training and expertise that a career in the skilled trades offers.
August 9, 2025: Ironworkers from the U.S. and Canada competed at the International Ironworker Skills event in Mackinaw City. The public was invited to watch skilled competitors faced off in events like the rivet toss, rod tying, and the intense World Championship Column Climb.
August 4, 2025: At the 2025 Summer CTE Leadership Conference, a workshop guided school leaders on utilizing resources to such as apprenticeship.gov and the Michigan Apprenticeship Readiness Certificate (MARC) to expand RAP opportunities for students.
July 23, 2025: Registered Apprenticeships can help childcare businesses find and keep skilled staff. Macomb St. Clair’s Race to Talent™ event showcased how one employer started her own program after attending a Race to Talent event last year, bringing her apprentice this year to speak about the program’s success.
