Not all Pre-Apprenticeship programs are the same . . .
The Michigan Apprenticeship Readiness Certificate (MARC) endorses “high-quality” training programs that prepare individuals and connect them to Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) opportunities.
Individuals receiving MARC Level I certificates are ready to enter an RAP in a specific industry sector and attain “advanced standing” for an interview, reducing recruitment time and cost for program sponsors.
Individuals receiving MARC Level II certificates are ready to enter a RAP in a specific occupation, attain “advanced standing” for an interview, and if hired, receive credit for Related Instruction (RI) and/or On-Job-Learning (OJL), reducing RAP time and cost for program sponsors.
There are currently 12 MARC Level I and II pilot programs across the state!

Register to hear from Callan Eschenburg from the State Apprenticeship Expansion team how Michigan Apprentice Readiness Certificate (MARC) Level I & II Endorsements can reduce time and costs for program sponsors on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 1-2 p.m.

Registered Apprenticeship Michigan partners from across the state led the nation with a record number of NAW events hosted: 275!
Through perseverance, Cherish Crane overcame a previous barrier enabling her to enter a Workforce Development Institute (WDI) Access for All Cohort in Jackson. During the training, she proactively sought out tutoring from an instructor at WDI and Southeast Michigan Works! partners.
Through dedication and hard work, Cherish was selected for a Painter's Registered Apprenticeship Program where she worked in her hometown on the renovation of the Historic Michigan Theater, a noteworthy project!
“Cherish is a shining example of why the Access for All program exists," stated WDI Executive Director Chong-Anna Canfora. "Talented people, like Cherish, often find that hard work alone is not enough to enter a thriving wage career. By surrounding our participants with a resourceful team who can assist in removing obstacles WDI is helping to ensure that communities are able to tap into their own valuable talent pool. Cherish has made us and her hometown proud!"
