January is Braille Literacy Month
The Bureau of Services for Blind Persons (BSBP) supports Braille Literacy all year long by teaching Braille as a core class at the BSBP Training Center. During the month of January, BSBP is collaborating with other agencies in the Braille Challenge and participating with libraries across the state in the Braille Enhanced Storywalk.
Earlier this month, the Braille and Talking Book Library set up a “Write Your Name in Braille” activity in the rotunda of the Michigan Library & Historical Center. The display encouraged visitors to write their name in braille and highlighted the importance of the braille system. You can find similar displays at public libraries throughout the state.
Be sure to follow the Braille and Talking Book Library on Facebook to see other celebrations taking place throughout the month.
