May is Military Appreciation Month, and this gives us an opportunity to highlight the great employment resources and services available to our state’s Veterans.
Veterans' Employment Services provide individualized, one-on-one career services designed to assist in reducing or eliminating identified barriers. Check out this video that provides an overview of their services. Learn more at Michigan.gov/VES.
On Pure Michigan Talent Connect, applicants who identify themselves as Veterans receive “veteran preference,” which includes 24-hour advance notice of job postings before they are visible to the general public.

A new Oakland Community College training program gives Michiganders an opportunity to pursue an in-demand healthcare career as a sterile processing technician. According to OCC, the average pay for a sterile processing tech in Southeast Michigan is about $45,900.
The 12-week training program begins July 12 with 38 classroom hours at OCC’s Southfield campus and 40 hours of clinical training at a Beaumont facility. Tuition assistance may be available through Oakland County Michigan Works! Visit OCC’s website to learn more.

Persons with disabilities can use Pure Michigan Talent Connect’s “Advanced Job Search” feature to identify opportunities that may be of particular interest. Visit MiTalent.org, begin an “Advanced Search”, and be sure to select the “People with disabilities” option under “Job Characteristics”.
You can also opt-in to receive important information from the Bureau of Services for Blind Persons and Michigan Rehabilitation Services when you create an account on Pure Michigan Talent Connect.
