Michigan Career and Technical Institute helps student shine in the kitchen
Michael Ritter is fierce in his determination to not let his disability stand in his way as a rising star student at Michigan Career and Technical Institute, always working hard through many occasions with no complaints.
Michael is also an invaluable resource to the instructors providing them with assistance, going above and beyond his duties to get the class organized so they could get their work done.
During Michael’s time at MCTI, the culinary program went through a significant transition and doubled the number of participating students. Michael was a great asset in allowing instructors to focus on teaching their classes while he kept operations running smoothly in the kitchen. He is always the first one in the Pine Cove kitchen in the mornings and first to ask, “What needs to be done?” Michael is staying for the next term to work as a student teaching assistant in the Culinary Arts Department.
Michael has demonstrated commitment and professionalism in the Culinary Arts trade. At graduation, he earned the Honors Award, Academic Award and Perfect Attendance Award. He also earned a Merit Award for extracurricular help around the school. He was a mentor, ambassador and leader in his class.
