Where can I complete this training?
The online Michigan Ongoing Health & Safety Training Refresher 2026 is being hosted in Michigan Virtual’s online professional learning portal. To access the training, providers who do not already have a Michigan Virtual account, will need to create a Michigan Virtual account. When a provider creates their Michigan Virtual account, there is a space to list their MiRegistry ID. Providers should provide their MiRegistry ID and select “I want all of my eligible courses to be sent to MiRegistry” so completion will transfer to their MiRegistry profile.
Providers can register for this training by visiting either the MiRegistry Statewide Training Calendar or Michigan Virtual Professional Learning Portal. For step-by-step instructions, review the Navigating to the Michigan Ongoing Health and Safety Training Refresher 2026 Course guide.
Please contact your consultant should you have any questions.

Prior to the deadline, please verify that you and your staff have completed the training. See the Health and Safety Verification guide for step-by-step instructions.
Question: My staff member said they completed the training, but I do not see their completion in MiRegistry. What should they do next?
Answer: They may have missed a graded activity. When they log into the Michigan Virtual Professional Learning Portal, the course will be listed under Active courses if they missed a graded activity.
Please share the information below with the staff member to help them locate the missed activity(ies).
If you don’t see the training verified on your Training Summary, you can check to see that you have completed the course by clicking on the “Check Completion Status” in the course module. If using a mobile device, click the left-hand navigation menu first, then "Check Completion Status". This will indicate whether you are complete or incomplete. If incomplete, there will be a list of any activities that are incomplete. You can then go to each activity and complete it.
If you are having technical difficulty with the course and need support, you may reach the Michigan Virtual Customer Care team by submitting a support ticket.
See the Health and Safety Refresher page for more information and resources.

State, national leaders highlight new report that examines need to expand opportunities for men while ensuring every Michigander has a pathway to earn credentials
LANSING, Mich. – Michigan leaders are raising awareness of the growing gap between men and women in education, emphasizing the need to better understand the barriers keeping men from pursuing postsecondary degrees and credentials — and the consequences for Michigan’s workforce, families and long-term economic competitiveness.
A new study by the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP), Moving Michigan Males Forward: The Next Steps, examines these challenges and opportunities to strengthen engagement in educational and career pathways amongst boys and men. The report’s findings were discussed during a virtual panel discussion today featuring MiLEAP, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer; state representatives, partners from the American Institute of Boys and Men (AIBM); and leaders from the Michigan Departments of Education (MDE); and Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO).
The Next Steps report builds on Gov. Whitmer’s Executive Directive 2025–2 and MiLEAP’s ongoing work to better identify gaps and ways Michigan can respond, as highlighted in the 2026 Office of Strategic Talent Preparation (OSTP) Vision and Impact report.

MiLEAP joined Sound Mind Sound Body for a gathering to highlight the value of OST programming, community partnerships and postsecondary education pathways
LANSING, Mich. – Hundreds of students and families gathered Monday evening in Detroit for a Lights On Afterschool event hosted by Sound Mind Sound Body (SMSB), highlighting the opportunities available to young people through learning, mentorship and enrichment beyond the traditional school day.
The Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP) joined SMSB for the celebration featuring out-of-school time (OST) programming, financial aid resources and family-friendly activities, including a co-branded MiLEAP and Detroit Lions Mobile Marketing Unit, which provided students with interactive photo opportunities and a chance to make memories with their peers.
“Learning doesn’t stop when the school day ends,” said Dr. Beverly Walker-Griffea, executive director of MiLEAP. “Out-of-School time programs give students additional opportunities to explore their interests, build new skills and discover what’s possible for their futures. By connecting young people with enriching experiences and resources that support their goals, we can help them see a path forward and feel confident taking the next steps toward their future.”
