MI Future Educator Stipend Student Teaching Definition
Effective Winter/Spring 2026, student teachers must meet both of the following criteria to qualify for a MI Future Educator Stipend award:
- Be enrolled full-time in student teaching coursework, and
- Complete a minimum of 300 student contact hours.
Students must be participating full-time in a required student teaching experience (also called an internship), in a Michigan public school or public-school academy. This student teaching experience must be the supervised, clinical capstone experience that requires a minimum of 300 student contact hours.
MI Future Educator Stipend Semester Limits
Reminder: Effective Academic Year 2025-26, recipients of the MI Future Educator Stipend may not receive more than two semesters of awards per lifetime.
MI Future Educator Stipend Payment Schedule Adjustments for December
Due to the upcoming holidays and State office closure, the following MI Future Educator Stipend payments will be adjusted:
- Scheduled Payment: Wednesday, December 24, 2025 moved to Monday, December 22, 2025.
- Schedule Payment: Wednesday, December 31, 2025 cancelled. Payments will resume Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
