High School Completion Requirements
A recent concern identified during program reviews is the absence of documentation verifying high school completion for awarded students. Institutions must verify high school completion if it is not already confirmed by CEPI. Failure to do so will result in a finding during the program review process.
The following programs require proof of high school completion:
- MI Future Educator Fellowship
- MI GEAR UP Scholarship (MI GEAR UP)
- Michigan Achievement Scholarship/Community College Guarantee
- Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship
- Michigan Competitive Scholarship (MCS)*
- Michigan Tuition Grant (MTG)*
- Tuition Incentive Program (TIP)
*The High School Completion Substitution Form may be used by the institution for MCS and MTG students who have not met the high school completion requirement. The form must be on file prior to payment.
High school completion information may be confirmed in the Student Information section of MiSSG. If the ‘HS Grad Confirmed by CEPI’ indicates “Yes,” this can be used as documentation for a program review. If the status is “No” or blank, the institution must provide proof of high school completion during a program review.
Financial Aid Administrators can add or update a student’s high school graduation year in MiSSG once it has been verified.
