MiLEAP and CEPI want to remind institutions of the importance of acquiring UICs for their students at the time of enrollment. UICs are essential to connect data from CEPI's STARR collection to MiSSG data.
One important step is for colleges to review their “No UIC on File” report in the MiSSG system and to request UICs in MSDS for the students included in the report. In addition, please compare UICs in MiSSG and UICs in your local student information system. If you find different UICs being used for the same student, please submit a linking request to link the two UICs in MSDS. Refer to the IHE Request for UIC Collection User Guide for how to request UICs and linking instructions.
Institutions should also ensure that all students enrolled by June 30, 2025 are submitted in STARR by October 15, 2025. (However, it is not necessary to wait until your STARR submission to acquire the UIC.)
