As a reminder, Michigan Achievement Scholarship FAQ is continuously updated. Below is a sample of recently added questions and answers.
Four-year Institutions:
If a student didn’t use their full $5,500 of Michigan Achievement Scholarship award this aid year, can they use remaining funds for a different semester?
If the student used two semesters of the Michigan Achievement Scholarship, any remaining funds cannot be rolled over into another semester. However, within the aid year, if the student only used one semester of funding, they may use their remaining funds up to the semester maximum for a second semester.
Example 1: Student was enrolled Fall semester and used $1,000 of their $1,250 Michigan Achievement Scholarship Minimum Award. The student took the Spring semester off. Because the student has not yet utilized the two semesters of eligibility; in Summer semester, the student has a remaining $1,250 Minimum Award and $1,500 Last-Dollar Award to use.
Example 2: Student was enrolled Fall semester and only used $1,000 of their $1,250 Michigan Achievement Scholarship Minimum Award. For the Spring semester, the student used the full $1,250 Minimum Award and $1,500 Last-Dollar Award. For Summer semester, the student has no remaining funds for the remainder of the aid year because they have already utilized two semesters of the scholarship.
