2024-25 Michigan Tuition Grant Status

As previously communicated, effective Academic Year 2024-25, students who have not initiated (received a paid award) in 2023-24 or prior will no longer be eligible for the Michigan Tuition Grant (MTG). MiSSG has been updated to reflect students who have not initiated (received a paid award) in 2023-24 or prior as ineligible for Michigan Tuition Grant (MTG). This ineligible reason is reflected as, "Did Not Initiate Before Fall 2024." Institutions should review the Information Roster or Eligible Students Roster in MiSSG to determine which students are eligible for a continued award in 2024-25.

Students eligible for the Michigan Competitive Scholarship (MCS) will continue to be supplemented by MTG dollars and will be eligible for up to $3,000 for their MCS award in 2024-25.

Question: What if a student received a paid award for MTG in Academic Year 2022-23, but not in Academic Year 2023-24. Can they still receive an MTG award in 2024-25?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Can students prior to the high school Class of 2024 still be considered for the Michigan Tuition Grant?

Answer: Yes, students who have received a paid award for MTG in 2023-24 or prior can receive an award in 2024-25 if they continue to meet all eligibility criteria.

Question: Will high school Class of 2024 graduates who do not meet the qualifications for Michigan Achievement Scholarship be considered for MTG in 2024-25?

Answer: No, Michigan Tuition Grant is no longer available to students who have not received a paid award in 2023-24 or prior.

Question: For students who continue to be eligible for MTG and are also eligible for Michigan Achievement Scholarship in 2024-25 what are the maximum award amounts for each program?

Answer: Up to $3,000 MTG and up to $5,500 Michigan Achievement Scholarship provided all eligibility and packaging guidelines are met.
