MI Student Aid is excited to share new updates and data available in the MiSSG system!
To provide more clarity, the column in the FAFSA Completion screen that previously read: FAFSA?, now reads: FAFSA Submitted. This data field along with the FAFSA Completed data column allows high school users to compare which students have submitted a FAFSA versus those who have completed a FAFSA.
And be sure to check out the new SAI column to see which students are eligible for the Michigan Achievement Scholarship based on their Student Aid Index (SAI) number.
We also want to highlight a new data field available in the FAFSA Completion Screen in MiSSG. The new data field labeled: Institution in MiSSG, shows the first Michigan institution listed on a student's FAFSA. This gives high school users the opportunity to connect with their seniors to confirm the institution they plan on attending matches what is displayed in the MiSSG system. If the student is planning on attending a different institution than what is displayed, they must have their student record updated. This can be done by accessing the MiSSG Student Portal or by contacting MI Student Aid at mistudentaid@michigan.gov or 888-447-2687.
Finally, we added a new column labeled: Portal. This indicates whether or not a student has created a MiSSG Student Portal Account.
We recommend high school users frequently check their FAFSA completion data in MiSSG, as MI Student Aid continues to upload FAFSA data as it's received.
And don't forget, you can also identify students eligible for the Tuition Incentive Program (TIP) in the MiSSG system. As a reminder, students must have one of two things to have a student record in the MiSSG system:
- FAFSA on File (or)
- TIP eligibility (TIP Record)
If they do not have one of the two things listed above, they do not have a record in MiSSG, and we cannot add them or update information. If you need access to the MiSSG system, your principal or superintendent must electronically sign and submit a 2023-24 Data Use Agreement (DUA).
Thank you for helping to ensure that all Michigan students know about State financial aid programs and resources!
