Featured Frequently Asked Question
As a reminder, Michigan Achievement Scholarship FAQ is continuously updated. Below is a sample of recently added questions and answers.
How does the 15-month requirement work for Michigan Achievement Scholarship? Will MiSSG track this requirement?
Students must initiate their Michigan Achievement Scholarship within 15-months of high school graduation or earning a high school equivalency certificate. Initiation is defined as a payment of $0.01 or greater or the certification of “no - Full-Time - exceeds COA.” 15-month periods are shown on page 36 of the 2023-24 State Programs Procedures Manual. MiSSG will track this requirement.
Student Communication Notification
Students meeting the eligibility requirements to be considered for the Michigan Achievement Scholarship who have been identified in MiSSG Portal as not meeting the initiation requirement during Academic Year 2023-24 will be receiving an email from MI Student Aid as part of an outreach effort on April 19, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
This communication will notify the student of their final semester to initiate the Michigan Achievement Scholarship and will be sent to students who must initiate either by Summer 2024 or Fall of 2024-25 to maintain eligibility. It also will identify their current institution in MiSSG and instructions for selecting a different institution if they are attending or plan on attending college in Academic Year 2023-24 at a different institution.
Students are encouraged to use the MiSSG Student Portal to update their institution or to contact MI Student Aid’s Customer Care Center at 888-447-2687 or email mistudentaid@michigan.gov to have their student record updated. This communication may result in new students on institution eligibility lists or additional student outreach to financial aid offices.
