Michigan Achievement Scholarship and Student Aid Index (SAI) Guidance, Number in College for Academic Year 2024-25
Please review the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP) - MI Student Aid’s current guidance regarding the impact of number in college on the eligibility for the Michigan Achievement Scholarship for Academic Year 2024-25 based on the new Student Aid Index (SAI) and supplemental legislative guidance enacted December 18, 2023.
All students, regardless of the number of people in a household in college, must have a SAI of $30,000* or below to meet the financial eligibility criteria for the Michigan Achievement Scholarship. A revised eligibility threshold for students from households with two or more students in college will not be implemented.
Institutions should use their respective Professional Judgement processes to adjust for situations where household size is impacting a student’s eligibility.
MI Student Aid will complete an analysis during Academic Year 2024-25 to review impacted changes to student eligibility for households with two or more students in college and may update this guidance at that time.
*The SAI of $30,000 requirement as it pertains to this policy does not include student's who are a part of the Academic Year 2024-25 rollover.
