Winter/Spring Certification/Reimbursement - Deadline, February 20, 2024
The 2nd quarter payment date is scheduled for February 21, 2024. To be included in the 2nd quarter payments, awards must be certified and reimbursements requested by the deadline of 5:00 p.m. on February 20, 2024. Only accepted requests that are submitted prior to the payment date will be included in the 2nd quarter payments. Accepted requests that are processed after the 2nd quarter payment date will be included in the 3rd quarter payment.
Important: When utilizing the file upload process for certification/reimbursement, School Users must review their CSV files in notepad prior to upload. This ensures file format is accurate and no additional lines remain outside of the student data you are certifying. Additional rows with no data result in a systemwide error in MiSSG preventing all institutions from utilizing the certification/reimbursement process.
Michigan Achievement Scholarship SAI updates are now available in the Frequently Asked Questions as well as some publications. Additional updates to the MiSSG system and publications are in progress and MI Student Aid will continue to communicate with our stakeholders as updates become available.
Reconnect Expansion Status Update
The Reconnect Expansion program testing is in progress in MiSSG and is currently meeting expected timelines. MI Student Aid will continue to communicate updates regarding implementation.
Student Communication Notification
Students who have been certified in the Fall semester/term as not enrolled will be receiving an email from MI Student Aid as part of an outreach effort on February 2, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
This communication will notify the student of their current institution in MiSSG and instructions for selecting a different institution if they are attending or plan on attending college in Academic Year 2023-24 at a different institution. Students are encouraged to contact MI Student Aid’s Customer Care Center at 888-447-2687 or email mistudentaid@michigan.gov to have their student record updated. This communication may result in new students on institution eligibility lists or additional student outreach to financial aid offices.
Virtual Financial Aid Presentations
Students and families looking for help paying for college are encouraged to register for a Virtual Financial Aid Presentation provided by MI Student Aid.
Participants will be able to gather information on the following financial aid topics:
- FAFSA application information
- Federal financial aid programs
- State financial aid programs
- Scholarship searching resources

High school students and families interested in learning more about the Michigan Achievement Scholarship are encouraged to register for an informational Webinar provided by MI Student Aid.

- Important action items for students and families
