Winter/Spring Certification/Reimbursement Requests Now Open!
Institutions may begin certifying awards/requesting reimbursements for the Winter/Spring 2024 term/semester now! Institutions may also continue certifying awards/requesting reimbursements for the Fall 2023 term/semester.
Students who are eligible for Michigan Achievement Scholarship must have their Fall certification completed in order for Winter/Spring information in MiSSG to be as accurate as possible. MI Student Aid encourages institutions to complete all Fall certification for Michigan Achievement Scholarship prior to certifying for Winter/Spring.
 Winter/Spring Certification/Reimbursement - Deadline, February 20, 2024
The 2nd quarter payment date is scheduled for February 21, 2024. To be included in the 2nd quarter payments, awards must be certified and reimbursements requested by the deadline of 5:00 p.m. on February 20, 2024. Only accepted requests that are submitted prior to the payment date will be included in the 2nd quarter payments. Accepted requests that are processed after the 2nd quarter payment date will be included in the 3rd quarter payment.
For institutions submitting requests via file upload, here are some helpful tips:
- Review the MiSSG File Formats.
- Do not delay! You will need time to review your upload results, which may require evaluating any errors and re-uploading your file.
You can review your errors by selecting, ‘The File has been processed but errors were found.’
- You may review the students who were successfully included in the payment request on the ‘Ready to Pay Roster.’
 The following State financial aid programs will be included in the 2nd quarter payment:
- Children of Veterans Tuition Grant
- Fostering Futures Scholarship
- Futures for Frontliners
- Futures for Frontliners Path 2
- Michigan Achievement Scholarship
- Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship
- Michigan Competitive Scholarship
- MI GEAR UP
- Michigan Reconnect Scholarship
- Michigan Tuition Grant
- Police Officer’s and Fire Fighter’s Survivor Tuition Grant
- Tuition Incentive Program
Payments for MI Future Educator Fellowship and MI Future Educator Stipend are processed weekly.
Payments for the Reconnect Expansion program will be announced once system development is completed.

Changing a Student’s MI Fellowship Eligibility for Spring
The MI Future Educator Fellowship application is an annual application. If institutions have a student who applied for Academic Year 2023-24 and was not eligible for Fall 2023, but is now eligible in Spring 2024, the institution will need to reset the student’s eligibility by completing the following steps:
- Access the student record via the Quick View menu item in MISSG.
- Click on the Fellowship Award for the appropriate year.
- Scroll down to “Update Application Information.”
- Change the “No-Not Eligible” response to blank and click “Save.”
The student will now re-appear on the Confirmation of Eligibility roster. Institutions may confirm eligibility and move the student forward in the award process.
