Recently, the Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA) announced that the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), also known as the Better FAFSA, will open by December 31, 2023.
This delay will also modify the timeline of when government agencies and higher education institutions are able to receive FAFSA data, which is expected late-January. Once MI Student Aid receives this data, testing will take place to ensure the data is accurately displayed in MiSSG. High School Counselors and College Advisers who have access to MiSSG will be notified once FAFSA data is available for users in MiSSG.
This delay does not impact a student’s ability to complete the 2024-25 FAFSA. We encourage high school seniors to complete the 2024-25 FAFSA as soon as December 31, 2023.
