Epinephrine injection pens under the brand name Auvi-Q, used to treat deadly allergic reactions, are being recalled over dosage concerns, manufacturer Sanofi announced in a statement.
The recall affects all Auvi-Q products on the market and includes both the 0.15 mg and 0.3 mg strengths used for hospitals, retailers and consumers, and includes lots number 2299596 through 3037230 with expiration dates from March to December 2016.
Auvi-Q is used to treat life-threatening allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, which can cause suffocation when airways swell shut.
