Highland Park's Best Available Meter Data confirms a $1.5 Million Dollar Overcharge for CSO
Highland Park, Michigan - The City of Highland Park, the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), and suburban communities have convened a Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Task Force to address wet weather flow charges that are running approximately ten times higher than current best available data supports for Highland Park.
Per the Settlement Agreement, Highland Park requested an interim charge adjustment under state law, utilizing best available data made possible by the installation of water and sewer meters. Highland Park is requesting an adjustment that would result in a $1.5 million reduction in CSO charges for the current year and the next, pending approval.
The next meeting of the CSO Task Force is scheduled for Thursday, May 8, 2026, at the City of Dearborn Administrative Center (16901 Michigan Ave), the time is to be determined. The City of Highland Park strongly urges all residents to attend the meeting.
