Weekly Update!

 Please find below an update of activities taking place between

(1/04/2020 thru 1/10/2020)

 

 

WATER DEPARTMENT

The Customer Service Center would like for residents to be aware that they have a monthly drainage/stormwater bill that generates for each parcel they own, even without active water usage. If residents have questions, they can call the Customer Service Center at 313-865-1876 to review their account/s.

    • Department is continuing to offer free lead testing to all residential homes, along with distributing free filters
    • Preparation of construction drawings for 2020 Water Main and Lead Line Replacement continuing. Construction slated to begin late Spring 2020
    • Preparation of construction drawings for 2020 2nd Avenue Sinkhole Repairs, Sewer Lining, and Sewer Cleaning in designated parts of the city. Construction slated to begin late Spring 2020
    • Water Department held a meeting with Wayne Metro to discuss available funding assistance. Wayne Metro is currently offering “One-Time Assistance of up to $500 per household” for water bill assistance.     CITY ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

    • Administration of catch basin cleaning program ongoing (Contractor: United Resource, LLC)
    • Administration of emergency tree cutting program current (Contractor: Cut My Tree Down)
    • Ongoing acceptance and processing of right-of-way and site plan permits 
    • Documentation of all construction-related activity from contractors and utility companies within the city
      • 123 Net near 2nd Avenue and Bartlett installing conduit for permitted Right-Of-Way activities.
      • DTE Contractor (Corby Energy Service, Inc.) continues working near 12700 Oakland Park Boulevard, installing an electrical duct bank conduit.
      • Cut My Tree Down will be in various locations continue with the removal of trees and restoration.

Notice of Public Hearing

WHAT:

First Public Hearing for Update of the Highland Park Master Land Use Plan  

WHEN:

January 16th, 5:30 PM

WHERE:  

Ernest T. Ford Fieldhouse Gymnasium, 10 Pitkin St., Highland Park, MI 48203

WHY: 

The City of Highland Park has recently begun the process of updating the City Master Land Use Plan, per State of Michigan requirements.

This is a critically important process as it serves to set the long term agenda for land utilization in the City, in terms of economic development, tax-based expansion, and population growth.

The process of creating the Master Land Use Plan is to be noticeably influenced by public input and feedback, and therefore the City requests and encourages both attendance and participation from the citizens of Highland Park.

This will be the first public meeting in the process, with a second meeting to be announced at a later date.

The Beginning of 2020: - Highland Park will be awarded 300,000 to Demo City-Owned Properties, this will include 20+ County Land Bank houses. 

Starting in January 2020: Housing Rehab Program Applications will be avalible at Highland Park City Hall (must have home insurance).
