iGaming, sports betting operators report $261.0M in September revenue
DETROIT, Oct. 17, 2024 — Michigan commercial and tribal operators reported a combined $261.0 million total internet gaming (iGaming) gross receipts and gross sports betting receipts in September. Gross receipts increased 16.5% compared to last month.
Monthly Gross Receipts
September iGaming gross receipts totaled $202.6 million and gross sports betting receipts totaled $58.4 million. In August, iGaming gross receipts were $196.66 million and gross sports betting receipts were $27.36 million.
Monthly Adjusted Gross Receipts
Combined total iGaming and internet sports betting adjusted gross receipts (AGR) for September were $209.9 million, including $182.3 million from iGaming and $27.6 million from internet sports betting — representing an iGaming increase of 3.1% and a sports betting increase of 68.7% when compared to last month. Compared to September 2023, iGaming AGR was up by 21.8% and sports betting was up by 47.2%.
Monthly Handle
Total September internet sports betting handle of $501.8 million was up by 79.2% from the $280.1 million handle recorded in August 2024.
Monthly State Taxes/Payments
The operators reported submitting $39.5 million in taxes and payments to the State of Michigan during September, of which:
- iGaming taxes and fees = $38.1 million
- Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $1.4 million
The three Detroit casinos reported paying the City of Detroit $9.84 million in wagering taxes and municipal services fees during September, of which:
- iGaming taxes and fees = $9.3 million
- Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $535,504
Monthly Tribal Operators’ Payments
Tribal operators reported making $4.8 million in payments to governing bodies in September.
