It is official...Governor Snyder proclaims Hire a Veteran Month.
“Michigan’s nearly 700,000 veterans have sacrificed and bravely defended our nation,” Snyder said. “With their experience and training, they are ready to offer Michigan employers a wide range of business, technical and leadership skills. These returning heroes bring real-world work experience and transferrable skills to the job – qualities Michigan employers can tap to benefit their businesses and help grow Michigan’s economy.”

Zeeland-based Plascore, Inc. is a global manufacturer of honeycomb core, composite structures and cleanrooms. We met up with Plascore’s hiring manager Kate at the Nov. 4 Vet Connection job fair in Wyoming. She was excited to meet veterans seeking employment but the attendance was lower than anticipated. So we decided to pass on this opportunity to you from Kate - a personal guarantee of an interview for an opportunity to work at Plascore. She welcomed the challenge, saying they want to hire veterans and have openings right now. She guarantees an interview. Landing the job is up to you. The door has been opened. How are you going to respond?
For your interview you need to visit here and apply. Somewhere on the application you must indicate "Veterans Career Fair".

Profiles of the men and women of the Veterans' Services Division of the state of Michigan's Workforce Development Agency, working every day to help veterans find employment and Michigan employers acquire the talent they need to grow and thrive.
My father was a career Navy man. He was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base which is located just north of Chicago, IL. This is my place of birth and my first tour of duty, even though Michigan had been home to my father’s family since the early 1800s. My mother is part Cherokee Indian from Oklahoma where my older brother was born, specifically, Tinker Air Force Base. My brother and I grew up in a military environment moving about every 4 years, visiting our relatives in Michigan between assignments. I have lived in Florida, Puerto Rico, Ohio, Guam, Michigan (while my dad went to Vietnam), and Indiana.
After graduating from high school, my dad retired and returned to his hometown, Vanderbilt, MI. I attended college in Michigan and pursued a career in law enforcement. Having landed a job in Mancelona, MI as a police officer, I soon realized my desire was to finish my degree and become a detective. Within a few months I met an Army recruiter who was also pursuing a law enforcement career, as a Special Agent for the US Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID). We discussed the application process, training, how I could continue my education, and become an Army officer and serve my country all at the same time. I shared this with my fiancée Kim and my dad, who spent 4 years as a recruiter. Kim and I got married and dad helped frame my contract with the US Army. After being married only 9 months, Kim and I began our military journey together.
