 Registration for Michigan Shifting Gears' Winter 2013 program (Cohort 13) is still open but time is short. If you, or someone you know, is an experienced professional who is: currently going through a career transition and frustrated with the job search, preparing to transition careers, re-entering the workforce after some time away, wanting to change industries, or just know there's something missing from your current career, the time to register is NOW.
Time is short: registration for the Winter 2013 session closes on Sunday, January 13. In order to register, you must first complete an informational webinar, scheduled for Sunday, January 13 at 7 pm. The webinar provides a program overview and the opportunity ask questions. Upon completion, you’ll receive a link to register online. Sign up for the webinar here.
An innovative, low-cost career transition program sponsored by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Michigan Shifting Gears is designed to help you fine-tune your skills to fit the needs of Michigan’s small businesses and start-ups. Cost of the 12-week program is $575 with payment plans available. MEDC underwrites the balance of the cost to help the state retain and retool top talent to meet the needs of Michigan’s small businesses and entrepreneurs.

LiveWorkDetroit! showcases Detroit as the place for Michigan’s college graduates and young professionals to live and work.  More than 400 former Michiganders who came home for the holidays learned about opportunities to move
back for good at the December 27 MichAGAIN and Quicken Loans Detroit Employment Event. The gathering was one of eight MichAGAIN events held in 2012 for former residents interested in calling Michigan home again.
The MichAGAIN Program engages
talent around the country with ties to Michigan to encourage them to stay,
return, and/or invest in their state. Through partnerships with universities,
businesses, and economic development partners around Michigan, MichAGAIN reaches out to both young and seasoned professionals to promote opportunities to come
back home. In 2012 more than 750 participants joined more than 40 employers ranging from Aernnova Engineering US to Quicken Loans, and 20 economic development and university partners in places from Austin, TX to Washington, DC.
