michigan shifting gears
Stop thinking and start doing. Michigan Shifting Gears is a career-transition program for seasoned corporate professionals who want to pursue opportunities in business growth sectors where they can leverage their business knowledge and experience in new ways.
Michigan Shifting Gears’ upcoming April 30 session also marks the launch of a new feature of the program, Shifting Heroes. Shifting Heroes will provide additional career development support to veterans, focusing on how to translate their military experience into the private sector. In addition, Shifting Heroes will include one-to-one mentoring by a veteran who is employed with a Michigan company, as well as provide opportunities to make direct connections with employers that are specifically interested in hiring veterans and are committed to creating a supportive professional environment for their veteran employees.
Registration for the Spring 2012 program (Cohort 10) has been extended to April 23, and eight additional Q&A sessions have been scheduled. Visit here to see the full schedule.

It’s only April, but Michigan trees are budding, flowers are blooming, and asparagus is popping up early on the state’s produce farms. Michigan’s asparagus growers are looking to hire hundreds of farm workers in the next two weeks to begin harvesting this year’s crop.
To help growers find the workers they need, the State of Michigan Workforce Development Agency is teaming up with the Michigan Asparagus Advisory Board to host an Asparagus Industry Job Fair TOMORROW from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Joseph Parish Hall, 2349 W. Jackson Rd. in Hart, Mich. Read more.
