It looks like the weather will finally start to feel like fall this weekend with cooler temperatures on the horizon. As a fan of cooler weather, I think this is good news, as is the most recent report from Longwoods International about traveler sentiment in the U.S.
The October survey shows that 50% of American travelers say they will take their next trip within 90 days, as overall travel demand remains near record levels with 92% of those surveyed indicating that they had plans to travel somewhere in the next half year. Answers divulged that visiting with family and friends was the main motivation for travel. Other key motivations include a desire to find new experiences, having fun and seeking rest and relaxation.

The study also asked about upcoming holiday travel plans. Results revealed that 31% of respondents plan to travel more this holiday season compared to last year. Only 12% expect to travel less. The full report, Longwoods International American Travel Sentiment Study- Wave 78, is sure to provide great insight for our industry.
I had the opportunity to take a fall color tour last weekend. Even though the leaves had not peaked in the areas that we traveled, it’s still a reminder that our state is absolutely beautiful any time of the year. Before this season passes, I hope you have the time to get out there and enjoy it as well.
