The SHARE (Sharing How Access to Resources Empowers) Network empowers job seekers and other citizens in need of assistance to find all of the local resources they can tap into to become self-sufficient. This network brings together workforce development partners, faith-based organizations, community organizations and business and government agencies.

SHARE Network consists of two components: 1) An online resource directory with hundreds of service providers that offer services at little or no cost and 2) Faith-based access points and community organizations that volunteer to be specially trained by Michigan Works! staff to help job seekers access opportunities through Michigan employment websites (Mitalent.org, Michigan Talent Bank, etc.) and learn about other related resources. Michigan Shifting Gears
Seasoned business professionals looking to shift their skills into new job opportunities have additional opportunities to participate in Michigan Shifting Gears. Registration for the Spring 2012 program (Cohort 10) is now open until April 13.   

Michigan Shifting Gears is a career-transition program for seasoned corporate professionals who want to pursue opportunities in business growth sectors where they can leverage their business knowledge and experience in new ways. 
 
To learn if this innovative program is right for you, first watch an informational overview webinar and then take part in a follow-up question and answer session (both required for participation in the program) with one of the Michigan Shifting Gears program facilitators. Recent graduates and college students: Detroit employers are hiring for jobs and internships

“You can impact the outcome of a major American city, like never before,” Dan Gilbert, the founder and chairman of Detroit-based Quicken Loans told 138 college students at the LiveWorkDetroit! Engineering, Technology, and Healthcare event sponsored by Compuware and Quicken Loans on Friday, March 9. Students also heard from Tanya Heidelberg-Yopp, senior vice president of sales operations for Compuware, and Ryan Hoyle, director of global recruiting for GalaxE Solutions.

The event allowed the graduates an inside look at what it is like to work in one of these growing sectors of Detroit’s economy with presentations by Detroit Medical Center, HP Enterprise Services, Quicken Loans, and the Mobile Technology Association of Michigan. After networking with 20 metro-Detroit employers and touring the city with D:hive, students ended the day hearing from entrepreneurs from Rippld, Clean Emission Fluids, and Challenge Detroit.

Please join us on March 31 from 12pm-7:30pm for the LiveWorkDetroit! Finale, the last event until next fall, to network with hiring employers. Experience firsthand the employment and entrepreneurial opportunities, lofts, museums, arts and cultural centers, and other sights of Detroit.
