Exporting Demystified:
Tips for Growing Your Business Globally

Automation Alley
July 24, 2019
Troy

Did you know that 95.5% of the world’s total population of 7.5 billion consumers reside outside of the U.S.? Similarly, an estimated 82% of the world’s total purchasing power today extend beyond our nation’s borders. For these reasons, your company’s future success largely depends on diversifying your markets globally while satisfying the world’s appetite for American-made products, services and technologies.

This event will feature international business experts who will share their firsthand insights about the opportunities and challenges of doing business worldwide. They will also demystify the export process and explain why the opportunities to sell overseas far outweigh the challenges. You will learn about the many resources designed to help small- and medium-sized companies launch their products around the world.

Speakers will provide case studies on how companies can best position themselves to take advantage of business opportunities overseas while sidestepping some of the common hurdles faced by first-time exporters. They will also focus on countries around the world with the highest demand for Michigan’s goods and services.

The declaration of value, in the context of international trade, is one of the most important requirements for the movement of goods globally. This is true for both U.S. exports and imports. The WTO Agreement on Customs Valuation, agreed to in 1994, sets a global standard for valuation methodology. Most countries establish the basis of their required customs values on these global standards. Join us on August 7th to learn more about customs valuation methods.
