Defense Trade Mission to Israel

December 1-6, 2018

Israel

In cooperation with SIBAT (the International Defense Cooperation Directorate of the Israel Ministry of Defense), MEDC ,the Michigan Israel Business Accelerator, the Michigan Defense Center and Butzel Long are organizing Michigan’s first defense mission to Israel December 1-6, 2018. The mission will include:

  • Business-to-business and business-to-government meetings
  • Site visits with Israel’s largest defense companies
  • Tours of a command base and testing range
  • Expo of Israeli defense companies
  • Networking events and informational briefings

While in Israel you'll be able to meet with counterparts in the fields of:

  • Robotics
  • Command and control
  • Cyber security (especially for infrastructure)
  • Armored vehicles
  • Home Land Security

Tentative costs for the land package are $4,000, including matchmaking fees, hotel, airport transfers and group ground transportation, meals, networking events and security where needed, and assistance at airport (excludes air). Participants may be eligible for a 50 percent reimbursement through MI-STEP for mission fees and other travel costs.

Trade Day provides the trade community and those interested in the importing/exporting process an opportunity to interact with local CBP personnel, Detroit Field Office trade staff, Canadian Government Officials, and a multitude of representatives from Partner Government Agencies (PGA). Trade Day 2018 will provide participants with the opportunity to communicate one-on-one with government representatives who are responsible for enforcing various trade laws while still processing/facilitating trade. 

Throughout the day, attendees have the opportunity to visit tables (agency identified) in our Exhibit Hall and to attend a series of presentations on importing and exporting related topics.

The topics for this year’s presentations include:

  • Drawback (a program that allows exporters to obtain refunds of up to 99% of U.S. import duties paid)

Ms. Mazibuko was appointed Councul General at the South African Consulate General in Chicago in January of this year. Prior to this post, she was Chief of Staff for the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa. Ms. Mazibuko has been working though her professional career to further business relationships between South Africa and its trading partners.
