Happy New Year! We are looking forward to a busy and exciting 2017 here at Travel Michigan, starting with the launch of the winter advertising campaign next week. This will include regional radio and television broadcast, out-of-home and digital advertising campaigns. Last week, I sent out the 2017 Pure Michigan Snow Day passion playbook, which includes a summary of our winter marketing efforts as well as ways that you can be involved in the campaign. This document went to our CVB, DMO, association and industry partners – but please contact Michelle Grinnell (grinnellm@michigan.org) if you did not receive a copy and would like one.
For those of you who are planning to head to Detroit to attend the North American International Auto Show (January 14-22, 2017), I hope you will stop by and visit the Pure Michigan booth right inside the doors of Hall C at Cobo Center. We appreciate our DMO partners who have volunteered to help staff our booth throughout industry days and the public show. There some limited days still available if you are interested in participating in the booth. Please contact Kelly Wolgamott (wolgamottk@michigan.org) for more details. With more than 850,000 people attending last year’s public show, this event is a terrific way to generate awareness about Pure Michigan and our travel destinations, as well as showcase some of the great comeback stories happening in Detroit right now.
Another great opportunity to check out what is happening in Detroit is at the 2017 Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference on Tourism, being held March 19-21. This year’s theme is “Reinvention Through Innovation” and once again the conference will offer prime educational and networking opportunities with more than 1,000 industry stakeholders. I am very excited about the lineup of speakers and breakout sessions being planned for this year, so I hope you will consider registering for this year’s conference. Click here to register now.
Sincerely, Dave Lorenz, Vice President 517-335-0007 lorenzd@michigan.org
