I’m writing this week from London where I am attending World Travel Market and promoting Michigan to travel industry professionals from across the UK and the globe. Representatives from Detroit are here as well as a delegation from Great Lakes USA. We have had some very productive meetings and have seen a terrific reception to what we are able to offer international travelers who visit Michigan, and the entire Great Lakes region. From here, I head to China where I will be participating in several tourism-focused media events and have a full schedule of meetings to continue our marketing efforts and building relationships in this critical market.
While I am away, the team at Travel Michigan is continuing to move forward with all of our other initiatives, including the development of the new michigan.org website. Those of you who have a property page listing on michigan.org currently, will be getting an email with instructions on how to update your property profile. Even if you do not think anything has changed, it is critical that you go in and review your current listing before we launch the new site. If you have a property page listing and do not receive this correspondence, please reach out to Bonnie Fink at finkb2@michigan.org and she can assist. With more than 14,000 properties currently listed in the database, we need the help of everyone in the industry to ensure we have the best content possible for the more than 8 million visitors to michigan.org each year.
Also, a reminder the submission period for the 5th Annual Pure Michigan Moments photo contest is still open. Please encourage your partners, fans and followers to share their favorite Michigan hidden gem by loading it directly to michigan.org/photocontest or by sharing on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtags #puremichigan and #PMContest2016. Click here for contest details.
Sincerely, Dave Lorenz, Vice President Travel Michigan 517-335-0007 lorenzd@michigan.org
