Ever thought about visiting Mackinac Island, voted one of
the “Top 10 Islands in the U.S.”? Now’s your chance – for free!
Pure
Michigan has partnered with Georama, a real-time vicarious travel platform, to
allow the public to experience
a virtual tour of the island in real time with guide Tom Daldin, host of
the PBS show Under the Radar Michigan.
Visiting picturesque Mackinac Island—a place filled with forts and uncharted paths--
is like taking a step back into time, where you can explore this enchanted
paradise by horse and buggy, or by bicycle or on foot. Take in the breathtaking
lakeshore views from the porch at Grand Hotel or savor some of the best fudge
you’ll ever taste. For the first time ever, Pure Michigan is offering an
interactive, first-person virtual tourist adventure of iconic Mackinac Island
on Thursday, June 11 from noon to 4 p.m., EST.
Participants
can join the tour simply by logging into michigan.org/live.
Pure Michigan is the first state tourism office in the nation to utilize this
technology, and only the second in the world after Victoria, Australia.
The platform
allows two-way interaction, giving viewers from around the world a chance to
ask questions or offer suggestions to Daldin on where to go and what to do
using Twitter or Facebook. Daldin will respond via these social media channels
to viewer questions and recommendations on camera.
We’re excited for you to join
us on this Pure Michigan adventure! See you at michigan.org/live on Thursday, June 11 at 12 noon to 4pm, EST.
