Stadium Drive interchange reconstruction

at US-131 starts Monday in Kalamazoo

 

Fast facts:

- Stadium Drive interchange reconstruction at US-131 begins March 30 in Kalamazoo.

- MDOT is investing $23.5 million to build a single-point urban interchange (SPUI) at US-131 and Stadium Drive (I-94 Business Loop/US-131 Business Route).

- Work is expected to be complete in September.

 

March 23, 2015 -- Following the Stadium Drive construction completed in 2014, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be resuming reconstruction of the US-131 interchange in Kalamazoo on Monday, March 30.

 

The new interchange is expected to be open to traffic in early September. It will be a single-point urban interchange (SPUI), the same design used at the I-94 interchange with Westnedge Avenue in Portage.

During construction, there will be one lane of Stadium Drive open in each direction.

The straight ramps will remain open:

- northbound US-131 to eastbound Stadium Drive,

- eastbound Stadium Drive to southbound US-131,

- southbound US-131 to westbound Stadium Drive, and

- westbound Stadium Drive to northbound US-131.

The loop-ramps will be closed:

- northbound US-131 to westbound Stadium Drive,

- southbound US-131 to eastbound Stadium Drive,

- westbound Stadium Drive to southbound US-131, and

- eastbound Stadium Drive to northbound US-131.
