March 5, 2013 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin preliminary work in mid-March on a $15 million investment to reconstruct 4 miles of M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue) between 34 Mile and Bordman roads in Bruce Township. Work will include widening the west side of M-53 within the project limits, as well as replacing utilities and constructing turn lanes at key intersections.

In order to accelerate construction, through-traffic will be detoured between Ebeling and 34 Mile roads while the Wilson Drain is rebuilt. Access will be maintained to all homes and businesses. Motorists should expect single-lane closures under flag control.

All work is slated to be completed in November.
