Two Restore I-94 project meetings scheduled in February in Wayne County as prep work begins
DEARBORN, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) Restore94 project to repair and rebuild I-94 between I-275 and US-12 (Michigan Avenue) at the Dearborn/Detroit border is set to begin in late February, starting with clearing and preparation work of shoulders and medians for the traffic shift and the future realignment of freeway before construction begins. All work for this area is expected to be completed by 2029.

Traffic Details:
One to two lanes of I-94 are expected to be open in each direction between I-275 and US-12 (Michigan Avenue) for a majority of this multi-year project. However, drivers should expect many ramp closures.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly 2,986 jobs.

Project information:
MDOT is investing $353 million along almost 13 miles of I-94 in Metro Detroit with a variety of work, including rebuilding and realigning the roadway, concrete repairs/patching, bridge work, ramp work, lighting improvements, cable barrier work, improved drainage, Intelligent Transportation System upgrades and building a new interchange at Ecorse Road.
