US-24 BR (Square Lake Road) pavement repairs start after Memorial Day in Bloomfield Township, Oakland County
BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $1 million to repair pavement on US-24 Business Route (BR) (Square Lake Road) between US-24 (Telegraph Road) and M-1 (Woodward Avenue) in Bloomfield Township. Work is expected to begin 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 and end in early July.
"Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school and run errands safely," said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. "By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime. This year, let's build on our momentum to pass a bipartisan local road funding plan so we can keep fixing our damn roads and creating good-paying, local jobs."
Work will take place overnight on weekdays, 7 p.m.-5 a.m. Monday-Friday, and on the weekends intermittently during the day and night between 7 a.m. Saturdays and 5 a.m. Mondays.
During construction, at least one lane will remain open at all times in each direction, although there may be delays due to flag operations while the work is ongoing. Reduced speeds will be posted and access will be maintained to all residents and businesses for the duration of the project.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 10 jobs. Check www.Michigan.gov/Drive for 24/7 construction and traffic incident information all all state roads (I, M and US routes).
