M-3 (Gratiot Avenue, 23 Mile Road) resurfacing project from Sandpiper Drive to I-94 begins April 16

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing approximately $8 million to resurface 5 miles of M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) from Sandpiper Drive to 23 Mile Road and M-3 (23 Mile Road) from Gratiot Avenue to I-94, upgrading sidewalk curb ramps, improving drainage, repairing guardrail, and restriping permanent pavement markings in the townships of Clinton, Macomb and Chesterfield.

Starting April 16, shoulder closures will begin on northbound and southbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) between Sandpiper Drive and 21 Mile Road for sidewalk curb improvements. Later this spring, drivers can expect single-lane closures along Gratiot Avenue for drainage improvements and nighttime lane closures for road resurfacing.

Later this summer, work will begin on M-3 (23 Mile Road) between Gratiot Avenue and I-94. During this work, drivers can expect nighttime directional closures of 23 Mile Road for pavement repairs and resurfacing. At least one lane will be open in at least one direction on 23 Mile Road.

There will also be overnight closures of local roads that intersect M-3 when crews resurface the intersections.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 76 jobs.
