I-94 repairs between Coloma and Watervliet start March 17

 

COLOMA, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and contractor Rieth-Riley Construction Co., Inc., will begin work Monday on a two-year, $31.7 million investment to repave I-94 between Coloma and Watervliet, as well as repair the Hennessey Road bridge over I-94, and repave the Friday Road interchange.

In 2025, crews will be repaving westbound I-94; eastbound I-94's work currently is planned for 2026.

The project includes drainage repairs, culvert replacements, guardrail upgrades, cable barrier replacement, permanent signs, and pavement markings.

Traffic restrictions:

Two lanes will be open in each direction. There will be some nighttime work when only one lane can be maintained.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 302 jobs.

This work will improve safety, ride quality and the road surface, and will extend the pavement life.
