Revive275 project: I-275 traffic shift requires closing all northbound ramps from Eureka Road to I-96/M-14 Nov. 13

LIVONIA, Mich. - Revive275 project crews plan to shift northbound I-275 traffic from the shared southbound side of I-275 onto the newly rebuilt northbound side beginning next week.

On Sunday, crews will be striping the newly built northbound side of I-275. The work is weather dependent. If delayed, the traffic shift and ramp closures will also be delayed a day.

The current plan is to close all northbound I-275 exit and entrance ramps from Eureka Road to the I-96/M-14 interchange from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13. This will allow all traffic to clear from northbound I-275. Once lane marking is completed, traffic will be shifted onto the original northbound and southbound sides and ramps will begin to reopen. Crews will reopen the I-94 and I-96/M-14 interchanges first and then the remaining ramps will reopen.

The following ramps will be closed:

  • Westbound Eureka Road to northbound I-275
  • Eastbound and westbound I-94 to northbound I-275
  • Northbound I-275 to Ecorse Road
  • Ecorse Road to northbound I-275
  • Northbound I-275 to US-12 (Michigan Avenue)
  • US-12 (Michigan Avenue) to northbound I-275
  • Northbound I-275 to M-153 (Ford Road)
  • M-153 (Ford Road) to northbound I-275
  • Northbound I-275 to Ann Arbor Road
  • Ann Arbor Road to northbound I-275
  • I-96/M-14 to northbound I-275

The northbound I-275 section between Will Carleton Road and Eureka Roads remains down to one lane for bridge work; most of the lanes are expected to reopen within the next week. By early next week, northbound I-275 is expected to fully reopen from Will Carleton Road to Sibley Road.

Northbound I-275 (Sibley Road to 5 Mile Road) and southbound I-275 (5 Mile Road to Eureka Road) will each have two lanes open through the end of the year, when the project will be wrapped up for the season. Next year, work includes punch list work, restoration, tree plantings, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and epoxy overlay work.

This Revive275 project is a $281 million investment that has directly and indirectly supported 3,267 jobs. Project information can be found at Revive275.org. Funding for this project is made possible by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's Rebuilding Michigan program to rebuild the state highways and bridges that are critical to the state's economy and carry the most traffic. The investment strategy is aimed at fixes that result in longer useful lives and improve the condition of the state's infrastructure.
